Update 2013-09-08 06:00: Maintenance window are successfully executed and we are operational again

Update 2013-09-07 21:15: Maintenance started.

****************************************************************

As previously announced here on the TechTalk blog, we have a planned service window on Saturday, September 7. On this day we will be upgrading the database software.

This means that from

Saturday September 7, 9PM (CET) to Sunday September 8, 6AM (CET)

the e-conomic application as well as the API will be unavailable.

The update is carried out by our professional database partner, which means that our role in the update will be minimized. We will, however, make sure that everything goes according to plan.

Why are we doing this?

We are doing this to improve the security in e-conomic. After the update, we’ll be able to better grant granule access to data. Furthermore, this update will enable improved data recover features.

This update also goes in line with our goal to always be on, that means the following will be possible after the update:

  • The application can connect to one logical name
  • A group of databases can fail over as a unit
  • We can have multiple mirrors
  • The mirror could be read-only and therefore available for reporting
  • Nodes can be connected asynchronously to have a remote database replica without slowing down the primary database.

In the future, the SQL Server 2012 can run on Windows 2012 Core, which minimizes the need for maintenance.

We apologize for any inconvenience related to this maintenance, and we will make sure to keep you updated along the way.
